Teaching Philosophy

Our teaching philosophy is very simple. We believe the golf swing is learned, earned, and acquired through practice of the proper pre-swing and in-swing principles.

Our goal as teachers is to help you as a student play to your potential. Anything worth doing is worth doing the best we can.

Most golfers that are playing below their potential, are playing that way for two reasons. First, incorrect preconceived notions of the golf swing, and second, improper placement of the hands on the golf club.

We believe that if you have a fundamentally sound set-up, you will be successful.

PRE-SWING

Grip, Aim, and Stance

As you prepare to make the swing, you will learn the importance of:

  • Aiming the club face.
  • Different styles of gripping the club.
  • Posture, alignment, and ball position

The fundamental preparations that go into making a good golf shot could well be labeled "unappreciated necessities". Swinging rather than preparing to swing, seems to capture the interest of the amateur golfer.

A golf stroke has a better chance of succeeding with good preparations and a mediocre swing than it does with inadequate preliminaries and a sound swing.

THE SWING

Any golfer must have the following essentials: clubhead speed, accuracy, and consistency.

If any of these items are lacking, it is virtually impossible to become a good player.

Get the most out of your lessons

Before Lesson

  • Arrive early and warm up by stretching and hitting balls.
  • Try to relax, remember, we are here to help you, not judge you.
  • Let us know of any physical limitations that you may have. We will work within your capabilities.
  • Realize it takes time to break old habits, so be patient.

During Lesson

  • Have an open mind, listen and allow the unnatural to become natural. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
  • Be prepared to do drills to work on small parts of the big puzzle. The swing will be broken down into small parts and each part has a drill to make it fit in.
  • It won't feel natural at first, allow the drills to make it become natural.

After Lesson

  • Do the given drills, these are what will make the difference in your progress.
  • When you are practicing, you are in a manual mode (thinking). When you are playing, you need to be in automatic mode (not thinking), reacting to the ball and the target. Be sure to practice! Hit plenty of balls between lessons.
